Once upon a time, there was a moment when jazz and funk met. Some say it was when James Brown came onto the scene, some say it was earlier than that. Whatever you think, the two go hand in hand. If you don’t believe that jazz and funk go together me and you might have to have a battle. If you don’t want to battle me you can just watch this video and decide for yourself. This is Prince and Miles Davis performing on New Years in 1987. Prince and MIles Davis actually put out an album that was only released as a bootleg titled “The Black Album”.

On a side note, during the 80’s Prince was rolling with the coolest people out there. 

U2 jouait pour l’anniversaire du Rock n Roll Hall of Fame au Madison Square Garden cette année.

Ils finissent par une reprise de Gimme Shelter avec Fergie et Will I Am des Black Eyed Pease et surtout Mick Jagger.

Une icone des 60’s toujours debout qui rejoint le groupe survivor des 80’s et les Black Eyed Peas, emblématiques des 2000’s.

Des dinosaures de l’entertainment, pour une version très convaincante de ce standard. Du beau boulot par des pros du divertissement facile à digérer. Mick et Fergie font le show, Bono assure la partie “digne” et The Edge rappelle à quel point Keith Richards est un imposteur.

C’est peut-etre ça les années 2000, des rappels incessants au passé, des vieux de la vieille rejoints par des petits jeunes qui ne revolutionnent rien.

On n’aurait jamais vu les sex pistols avec les stones…

London Calling

A supergroup consisting of Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Dave Grohl, Steven Van Zandt, Pete Thomas, and Tony Kanal of No Doubt performed the song at the 2003 Grammy awards as a tribute after the death of Joe Strummer.

Bruce Springsteen had earlier offered to join The Clash at the induction ceremony in 2002 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but the band had refused to play at the ceremony claiming that they did not want to play at a function where seats were upwards of $1,000, and would rather play for their fans
