Le Mobile World Congress à Paris ?

Après Cannes jusqu’au milieu des 00’s, puis Barcelone, le Mobile World Congress. Grand messe du monde du mobile déménage en 2013. 

Milan, Munich, Paris et Barcelone sont short-listées (Cologne et Amsterdam éliminées) pour reprendre (ou conserver) le flambeau.

Ce serait une excellente nouvelle Paris si le congrès posait ses valises Porte de Versailles. Barcelone est depuis plusieurs années un ds lieux où l’innovation mobile et l’écosystème ont trouvé des conditions de développement avec de multiples incubateurs et le centre de R&D de Telefonica. 

Alors bien sûr, pour nous parisiens ce serait un tantinet moins exotique que Barcelone, finis les 4 jours de soleil au coeur de l’hiver. Mais nous en ressentirions les effets tout au long de l’année.

Alors, autant les JO ou la Coupe de je-sais-pas quoi, je m’en fous un peu. Autant le Mobile World Congress à Paris, je vote pour !

15 minutes offered by Skype Access in Spain during Mobile World Congress

People travelling in Spain are invited to experience a burst of connectivity with Skype Access for 15 minutes, courtesy of Skype, ahead of the impeding launch of Skype Access within the next version (4.2) of the popular Skype for Windows client.  Available across the whole of Spain from 15-18 February, Skype is providing users with one click wifi access for a courtesy 15 minutes through its wifi partner Boingo.

Skype Access is a great new service from Skype that allows people with Skype Credit to access the internet at premium hotspots around the world.  No more fumbling with credit cards or cumbersome sign up processes. Simply connect to an available hotspot and Skype Access will offer to connect you to the internet at an affordable per minute rate.

Skype Access works with Skype’s Mac client and Skype for Windows 4.2 beta.  People running one of these versions of Skype will receive 15 minutes of free Skype Access credit they open Skype in an area covered by one of Skype’s wifi partners.  Areas included are airports, most hotels in Barcelona and across the FIRA.

Skype is exhibiting at Mobile World Congress for the first time this year, with a stand in the App Planet (Hall 7, Stand 7D49).

Skype Access is powered by Boingo, and can be used at over 100,000 hotspots worldwide.

Skype for Windows 4.2, which includes Skype Access, will launch in the coming weeks.

Yoigo prepaid : your solution for mobile data during the Mobile World Congress The Mobile World Congress starts next week. The major international event for our industry takes place in Barcelona, as usual. We will all have a heavy mobile data usage. For most of us, it means roaming with stupidly expensive prices. (€1,5 Euro per Mb with French carriers) For the last 3 years I’ve trusted Yoigo for all my mobile data connections in Spain. Yoigo is a Spanish 3G carrier with an amazing prepaid offer : The sim-card cost is €10 €20. Including  …. €10 €20 of communications Yoigo charges 1,20 €3.00 per day for UNLIMITED data. So the initial credit is enough for the whole congress week. My additional trick : I put the SIM in an old N95 with Joikuspot running. I then connect my laptop & iPhone to the wifi hotspot I created. (If we meet there, I promise, I’ll give you my passwword ;-) ) Yoigo Internet settings: APN – internet username – yoigo password – yoigo See you there !
